member University of Georgia (UGA). The site is located in the Research and Education Garden on the UGA-Griffin campus and is led by the UGA Center for Urban Agriculture. It showcases nine green stormwater practices in a hands-on, accessible setting where Extension agents, green industry professionals,
municipal staff, and homeowners can see research-based urban water management in action. The site also reflects the broader commitment of UGA’s College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences to environmental stewardship, its partnerships with the urban water and landscape industries, and its connection to programs such as the Georgia Green Landscape Stewardship.

“NUREC is about connecting our land grant university research to the needs of cities,” explained Gaolach. “GSI is important to cities and their efforts to be climate resilient amid increasing flooding and cascading environment hazards – but place matters. GSI implementation in Georgia will look different from GSI implementation in western Washington. So, research and demonstrations like this new site at the UGA-Griffin campus are critical to translating national research into place-based applications.”
