Lessons Learned from a Case Study in Urban Agriculture, and Considerations for Balcony Gardeners

Hello gardeners! Anna here, I am so thrilled to be able to share with you some of the information gleaned from my undergraduate research. During the summer of 2024 I monitored environmental conditions along a 5th-floor building-integrated agricultural array (planter boxes) in downtown Portland. For this case study, I used a combination of commercially available sensors and data loggers, and custom-built data loggers of my own design. The sensors I used took readings on soil moisture, soil temperature, ambient air temperature, and relative humidity.
