Cornell University
Cornell Cooperative Extension is a collaboration between The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and The College of Human Ecology. Together they advance the land-grant mission in urban communities by translating research into accessible, community-driven education and outreach. Through locally embedded educators and strong partnerships with community organizations, schools, municipalities, and small businesses, CCE delivers programs that respond to the unique opportunities and challenges of cities, including food access, workforce development, public health, and economic mobility. Efforts are further strengthened through initiatives such as Harvest NY, which connects New York growers, producers, and food businesses to markets and resources while supporting urban–rural linkages that benefit both producers and consumers.
CCE demonstrates a clear commitment to urban communities through an intentional focus on training and implementation support for educators and local stakeholders. This includes equipping Extension professionals and community partners with the tools, strategies, and technical assistance needed to design, deliver, and sustain programs that are responsive to urban realities. Together, these efforts provide hands-on education in urban agriculture, nutrition, and entrepreneurship while ensuring that research is translated into practical application. By co-developing solutions with communities and meeting residents where they are, CCE ensures that land-grant resources are relevant, inclusive, and impactful across diverse urban settings.
